About Northern Tuli Game Reserve

The Northern Tuli Game Reserve spans over 120,000 hectares in the eastern part of Botswana, along the border with South Africa and Zimbabwe. It forms part of the larger Tuli Block, an area noted for its dramatic landscapes consisting of rolling mopane woodlands, riverine forests, sandveld plains, and striking rocky outcrops known as mogotes. The reserve is ecologically rich, home to a wide variety of wildlife including large herds of elephants, lions, leopards, African wild dogs, cheetahs, and over 300 bird species. The diverse habitats support both predators and prey, making it an excellent location for wildlife enthusiasts and photographers.

Historically, the reserve land was once used for cattle grazing but has since been converted to conservation and ecotourism, promoting sustainable use and community involvement. Visitors can experience guided game drives, walking safaris, horseback safaris, and bird watching. The unique rock formations such as Giant's Playground and Selolwane Hills provide scenic hiking opportunities and dramatic vistas. Accommodation ranges from luxury tented camps to rustic lodges, allowing for immersive wilderness experiences. The reserve's remote location contributes to its appeal for visitors seeking solitude and unspoiled African bush landscapes.

Beyond wildlife viewing, Northern Tuli offers cultural encounters with Tswana communities, and nearby archaeological sites reveal Stone Age artifacts and ancient rock art. The reserve's combination of ecological importance and rich cultural heritage establishes it as a premier destination for outdoor recreation and conservation-focused tourism in Southern Africa.
